  3. These bars are amazing! Thanks so much for the recipe. I followed it exactly as written and they turned out perfectly.

  4. I have made these several times and they are delicious. However, mine are not nearly as tall as the bars pictured… I'm wondering if the pan size is incorrect? I plan to try these in an 8x8 pan next time to see if they come out as thick as yours.

  5. I made these today and the chocolate would not spread. I put them back in the oven for an additional 10 min. and it still wouldn't spread. What went wrong???

    1. After sprinkling the chips on top, only put in the oven for two minutes to soften so the are spreadable. You need to spread them, they will not melt and spread on their own. If you're using mini chips it will take less time.

  6. Has anyone tried freezing these? Also, I prefer to use butter, do they turn out with the correct consistency? Thanks!

  7. I'm also wondering about using butter instead of margarine. Someone let us know!

  8. It looks like there's an extra layer in the bars that doesn't appear in the recipe. What's in the white layer?

    1. It's the sweetened condensed milk and margarine.

  11. Finally got to try this recipe. Worked perfectly my first go at it, and I am by no means a baker. However, I decided to go with one a slender/taller pan. (8 x 4) I only went with 1 cup of chocolate chips, and 2/3 C of Toffee Bits. The crust is obviously going to be a much thicker layer. So I baked it for an hour, and it's perfectly moist yet still maintains a sturdy light structure. My dessert ended up standing at about 2.5 inches tall.
P.S. I used the rest of my butter and margarine, what i had available to me was about 6 Tablespoons Butter and the rest margarine, and it worked just fine.

  13. I've been looking for a recipe for peanut butter praline bars. This is close. Has anyone tried adding peanut butter to the crust mixture? If so, how much?

    1. I would decrease the margarine by 1/4 cup and add 1/4 cup of the peanut butter.
